I went in-store on the first day of Early Access to do this Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 Try On Session for you guys… and for my own fun, too [after all, this is my favorite sale of the year!]. I’m a petite fashion blogger, basically I’m 5’1 on a good day. So, I want to show you how some NSALE faves look on us shorties… AND offer you a $500 Nordstrom gift card giveaway!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 Try On Session

I’ve left the photos in this Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 try on session post unedited, so you can see colors as accurately as possible.

The first outfit I tried on was this super popular [for good reason!] cardigan, cute fall tee, ripped denim, and Hunter original short boots.

This cardigan is a cult favorite, and I can see why. It’s on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in black, ivory, and wine–nice basic colors you can integrate with your entire fall wardrobe. The length also wasn’t overwhelming on me, which was great.

Here’s a better look at this tee. It’s also on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in black, if you prefer neutrals. The material is thicker than most layering tees, making this short-sleeve layering tee a great option under a cardigan or jacket. I always like to layer short sleeves underneath because I hate when long sleeves get all bunched up.

In the end, I left this tee at the store because it was a bit more low-cut than I wanted. I think it would work great on someone taller than me, though.

I kept the same denim on for the next outfit in this Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 Try On Session. These jeans are super flattering, and they have enough stretch to be comfortable, too. I love the neutral wash [they’ll work with a lot of pieces in your wardrobe!] and the noticeable-but-not-too-much distressing.

Most importantly, these jeans are a great length for petite! I didn’t need to roll them or walk all over them.

I paired them with this lettuce-edge top and these booties that I’d mentioned in my NSALE women’s shoe picks post.

The top is cute, and I really like the edging on it. However, I ended up bringing home a different fitted black sweater instead, so I left this one behind.

The next jeans I tried on were not flattering at all. They’re supposed to be a crop jean, but that fell flat on my short legs. They definitely don’t look like the website model 

For comparison, the same legs and same shoes in a much more flattering jean, also on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

The next outfit in this Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 Try On Session was one of my absolute favorites. These jeans are holy grail, ladies. I am IN LOVE. They’re the perfect length for petites and soooo flattering.

I’ll be honest: these are a splurge for me, even at the NSALE price. But once I had them on, I didn’t want to take them off. When’s the last time you said that about a pair of jeans? It’s hard to find jeans that are flattering on short legs, so I’m considering this an investment.

This cute layering cami is already sold out in several size and color combinations! It was a bit low cut for me, but again, would probably work better on someone a bit taller. I did find the cut very flattering along the hips and waist. I feel like a lot of layering camis make my hips look much bigger than they really are which wasn’t the case here.

This leather jacket is everything, you guys. It’s comfortable, flattering, and on-trend. I love the way the drape front hangs. I’ve also never worn a more comfortable leather jacket! Unfortunately, I was already buying a couple other jackets, so I had to leave this one behind.

Here’s a closer look at the shoes from the last couple outfits. They’re also on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale in red. I’d identified these as a great option for short legs in my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks for Women’s Shoes post, so I couldn’t wait to try them on.

I wasn’t disappointed. The deep V in front helps elongate your legs, and the heel is the perfect height: high enough to give some height, not so tall that you can’t walk.

This is an amazing shoe, especially for the price. They will sell out! In fact, some size and color combos are already gone. Hurry to grab yours!

 

While I loved the black, I have a lot of black shoes already, so I opted to order the grey. The blush is super cute too, and would probably actually be the most effective at elongating your legs.

This similar look by Vince Camuto also caught my eye on the NSALE, but I personally prefer the clean look of the BP pair.

These striped wide-leg pants were a little outside of my comfort zone, as you can probably tell from the confused look on my face. They were also way too long for me.

I really loved the sweater, though. These type of pieces are my favorite: basics [like a fitted black sweater] with a little something extra [like the cute buttons].

Can you believe this sweater is $25.90? It had been on my list since I first saw the catalog and made my initial Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 picks. It’s UK sizing, so make sure you convert using the guide on Nordstrom’s site.

This is one of my absolute favorite looks from this Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 Try On Session. It’s the same sweater paired with the holy grail denim from earlier and Hunter Original Tall Rain Boots on sale.

I’ve never seen Hunter boots on such a good sale as they are right now! The Original Tall are the classic, iconic Hunter look. I predict these will sell out, so grab them while you can!

If you’re looking for Hunter Original Short Rain Boots on sale, you’re also in luck! Both the Original Tall and Original Short are part of the 2018 NSALE! This photo shows a comparison of both styles.

Personally, I like the Original Tall better on short legs. To me, the Original Short just makes my legs look, well, short. Both styles are cute, though, and I’d definitely wear either.

The twist-front top I’m wearing above was a fun twist [ha] on a basic. It’s also available in grey, although the orange would be great for fall. Both colors are sold out in several sizes already! I would size up in this one. The length is a little short even for me.

And now for the cheesiest picture of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 Try On Session.

This colorblock sweater is super fun! It’s also available in black and white. Here’s another popular colorblock option on the 2018 NSALE at a slightly lower price point. Lots of people are predicting a sellout on the colorblock sweaters, but I’ll be honest… the trend isn’t really my speed.

For this Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 Try On Session outfit, I paired this North Face jacket with the same holy grail denim [told you I didn’t want to take it off!] and short quilted Hunter boots.

The jacket is amazing! Unfortunately, it looks like it’s already sold in every size. I still linked it just in case they might re-stock if there are some returns. Doesn’t hurt to check!

I also really liked the quilted Hunter boots. I said in my initial 2018 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale picks post as well as my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks for Women’s Shoes that Hunter boots were at the top of my NSALE shopping list. After trying both the Original style and these high gloss quilted ones, I decided I liked the look and feel of the quilted ones more. My store didn’t have the taller quilted ones in stock, so I placed a special order. Can’t wait to receive them!

As I mentioned, the specific North Face jacket I ordered is already out of stock. But, there are still some great North Face options to be had in the 2018 NSALE! I’m wearing one of them here. It felt like a great quality jacket.

There is also a great North Face vest on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018. I really, really wanted one, but I decided to hold off since I was getting the jacket.

The shirt I’m wearing underneath isn’t part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018, but it’s still super affordable [under $20] and a great basic piece available in tons of colors. It has a 4+ star rating on Nordstrom’s website with 1.7 reviews!

I knew I wanted a North Face jacket the second I saw they were on the sale, and this one was a verrrry close second choice for me. It is super soft and I really like the detailing on it. It’s still the classic North Face look, but with a little flair.

Here’s the North Face jacket styled in a full look for this Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 Try On Session. I paired the jacket with this basic layering tee, ripped denim, and Hunter Original Tall boots on sale.

I couldn’t decide which of these colors to bring home in this moto jacket, so I polled you guys on Instagram Stories! About two-thirds of you voted for the taupe, so it came home with me.

This is a great price point for such a versatile jacket. I really love the removable hood! Some size and color combos are already sold out in this moto jacket, so grab yours now!

Next up on my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 Try On Session is this cable-knit open-front cardigan. It’s an early favorite in this year’s NSALE, and I’ve seen lots of people snatching it up. I really liked it, but felt the length was a bit overwhelming on me. I preferred this open-knit cardigan from earlier.

I paired this long cardigan with a basic white layering tee, ripped denim, and tall Hunter boots.

OK, how fun is this belted faux leather miniskirt? I totally loved how it looked with a basic white tee and these bright white booties [which were surprisingly comfortable, BTW]. However, I don’t have a lot of occasion to wear leather miniskirts as a stay-at-home mom, so I didn’t end up buying it.

The next look in my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 Try On Session features the same booties in black, a suede miniskirt, and the fitted black sweater I showed earlier.

I don’t usually wear booties with skirts because I feel like they cut off my legs too much and make them look short. I had identified these booties in my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks for Women’s Shoes post as potentially flattering for short legs, and I wasn’t disappointed! I would actually wear them with a skirt because the V-cut in front helps make my legs look longer, not shorter.

I loved how the white booties looked with this adorable white lace romper. While I loved the romper and thought it was very flattering, I decided to leave it behind in order to focus on more classic pieces with repeat wear value. I feel like I’ll get a lot more use out of jackets or a good pair of jeans than I would out of this romper. If only money were no object…!

For this Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 Try On Session look, I’m wearing the same booties with super comfy raw hem black denim and this striped shirt with fun sleeves.

This shirt is really flattering, and it’s under $30! It just had a bit too much of an “office” vibe for me. I definitely would’ve snagged it if I were still working, though.

Same issue with the next look in my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 Try On Session. I really loved this dress, and I think it’d be great for work. Work that doesn’t involve wiping poopy bottoms all day…

There are those deep V-front shoes again! They’re probably my favorite item of all from the 2018 NSALE, and so affordable. Seriously, you’ll love them!

This jumpsuit went fast! It’s only available in XL now. It’s under the “work” category, but I’d wear it on the weekend, too.

Here’s another work blouse option from my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 Try on Session. It’s also available in burgundy and a light pink.

Although I was really excited to put on this top as part of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 Try On Session, I was ultimately disappointed. The sleeves were cute, but the fit was too baggy and the neckline was unflattering. I paired it with ripped jeans and the quilted short Hunter boots.

Everyone was grabbing one of these half-zip pullovers, and I can see why. It was soooo warm [like, I was sweating just trying it on!] which will be perfect for the winter. I love the color, too. I wanted to snag one so bad, but put it back since I was already getting a couple other jacket options.

These will go fast, so grab one now! I’m shocked they’re still in stock online, because they didn’t last long at all in my store. I’m wearing it with these jeans and these boots.

Saved one of my best looks for the end of this Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2018 Try On Session! [Although you’ve already seen it if you follow me on Instagram or LIKEtoKNOW.it!] I absolutely loved the flattering fit on this drape jacket, and the material is so soft to the touch. I paired it with a basic white tee, these jeans, and Hunter tall boots.
