I actually enjoy going to baby showers. Is that weird? Lots of people complain about being invited to baby showers, but I’ve always enjoyed them! I like seeing the glowing mom-to-be and admiring all the adorable baby gifts. I even like the cheesy games. But my favorite part is selecting my gift for baby! One of my favorite baby shower gift ideas is this baby shower gift basket with a laundry theme that I recently put together for a very sweet couple expecting their first child.

Baby Shower Gift Basket

The best part of this laundry-themed baby shower gift basket is that it can be as personalized or generic as you’d like. For instance, it would be so easy to keep this gender-neutral if the couple isn’t finding out the baby’s sex. In this case, the couple knew they were expecting a little boy. Putting together the items in this gift basket brought me back to the time when I was expecting my little man! It seems like it was just yesterday. So hard to believe that he is practically 2 and a half now! Excuse me while I cry for a minute…

Here’s an overview of the items I included in this laundry theme baby shower gift basket:

  1. Baby Laundry Detergent: I looooove the way baby detergent smells! I want to use it on all my family’s clothes.
  2. Baby Laundry Stain Remover: Honestly, I didn’t even know baby stain remover was a thing until I was shopping for this gift basket! But I had to grab some because babies = stains. Lots and lots of stains.
  3. Bleach: See above re: stains.
  4. Fabric Softener: I couldn’t resist the sweet mom and baby on this package!
  5. Dryer Sheets: Can’t do laundry without dryer sheets! OK, I actually know some people who do, but I don’t understand how their clothes don’t stick to them all the time. I can always tell if I forgot to put in the dryer sheet!
  6. Laundry Delicates Bag: These are a must-have for washing and drying tiny baby socks.
  7. Nursery Hangers: Something to hang all of baby’s laundry on!
  8. Baby Outfit: Since this was a couples shower, I selected this “Daddy’s Little Superstar” outfit so Dad wouldn’t feel left out.
  9. Cloth Diaper: The couple had registered for cloth diapers, so I figured I could help start their stash.
  10. Burp Cloths: You know these will be in the laundry quite often during those newborn days! Make your own using these cloth diaper inserts and sewing on some cute fabric!
  11. Baby Socks: You can never have too many socks… especially when they have a tendency to get lost in the wash.

I made the clothesline by attaching skewers to the basket with twine, then using clothespins to attach the little socks. The clothesline is my favorite part of the whole gift basket!

I plan on making many more of these baby shower gift baskets in the future. It’s such an easy gift to customize and every parent can use extra laundry supplies! I remember our washer running basically 24/7 after Colton was born. He was a reflux baby, so there was a lot of spit-up. On him, on us, on everything. I suppose I can end this post now that I’ve given you that visual.

  1. I love that most of the presents are actually practical things new mothers would need. My last Baby- shower present was a basket full of diapers and a voucher for a local baby clothing store. But I never thought of laundry detergent (will keep it in mind for the next baby shower) Thank’s for sharing xxx

    1. Diapers are always a welcome gift at showers! And I love the idea of letting the mom-to-be select her own outfit for the baby. A shopping trip is always fun!

    1. Thanks, Sarah! You can never have too many laundry baskets! 😉

  2. Wow! This is such a beautiful and thoughtful gift. I love how easy it is to customize, too. We definitely use baby Oxyclean as a stain remover, and it has changed out lives.

    1. I didn’t know Oxyclean had a baby version! I’ll have to look for it. I’m sure we’ll have lots of stains to work on with Baby #2 on the way!

  3. Love this! I never thought of giving laundry supplies, but that is a great idea, especially if they are cloth diapering. I run my washer every other day! It’s insane how much detergent you go through!

    1. I totally agree! I am constantly shocked how much laundry my family of 3 can make. Haha!

  4. Such a cute baby gift basket idea, and you included some great essentials! A new momma can’t be too prepared

  5. Such an adorable idea. I love that it has a little clothesline. Too cute. I’m going to pin this for future showers! I love it. I know I’d love it for a gift too

    1. That is so sweet, Victoria! Thank you for pinning!

  6. I love how you put this basket together, and that you listened to the couples wishes about cloth diapers!! too many people take it upon themselves to say “oh, you wont like them” and gift disposables

    1. Oh man, that would frustrate me so much! It would be like someone registering for a breast pump then gifting them formula instead! I personally don’t cloth diaper but I wouldn’t take it upon myself to tell someone else what to do. Lol

  7. OMG this gift basket is the CUTEST!! So creative but yet so simple to recreate at home. Thanks for the awesome idea!

    1. Thank you so much, Sharon! Hope you’re able to make one yourself soon!

  8. Wow love this idea – will defo be using it for my next baby shower – and so practical too – love love love

  11. I love the ethereal look of tulle netting, and it’s the perfect light and airy touch for a baby shower. Pick up a roll of wide tulle ribbon at a craft supply store. Then weave a long strip of it through both basket handles and across the middle. Finally, tie a loose, fluffy bow onto one basket handle. It’s all the wrapping you’ll need.
